REPLIES TO THE CURRENT QUESTION

Our question last week was:

What is the most important New Year's resolution that Barack Obama should make?

Here are your answers.  The name of a writer is included only if he or she actually placed a name at the end of the message.  Otherwise, we assume the writer wished anonymity and "name withheld" is inserted.

"I Barack Hussein Obama resolve to wake up every morning that I am President and re-read the oath of office that I took on inauguration day and re-commit myself to carrying it out in both letter and intent."

Don Newell

“I promise to keep the Office of The President of these United States in higher regard than myself!”

R. Philips
Corrales, New Mexico

President-elect Obama should follow up on his decisions to (1) back away from the culture wars and (2) move to the center on tax policy by pledging the following:

"I resolve to back off on the radical 'green' policies of my appointees to avoid undermining any benefits of my path of economic moderation."

Chris Corbett
Flower Mound, Texas

I hope he makes a resolution that he'll use all means at his disposal to keep United States Citizens safe from invasion, insurrection, and subversion.
